The reputation of AK's accuracy is terrible, the trigger in AK is terrible, iron sights of AK are terrible but the guns technical accuracy is at least decent. This of course meens that one uses decent ammo & not WOLF or some other crappy cartridges. I'm also refering to russian Izhmash AK's & not the POS chinese things or other more or less licenced manufactorers.

AK's aren't built to shoot as accurate as hunting rifles, but a good shooter could keep the groups in 1-2 MOA@100m-150m which is at least decent with any assault rifle. 8)

Depends on the gun Snoop... I had the opportunity to shoot some big guns and the only way to shoot them was lying down or bolted to a telephone pole... 8)

Kossi... I never said anything about hitting a target. We all know the AK is terrible for accuracy. Except in RvS where I can take just about all of u down with mine ^^ at distance even

I think that Krasa is right there - AK is easy to shoot, but hitting the target is another thing. A little while ago I had to ruin my day by shooting with a competition ready AR-15. Recoil(or the lack of it) was a joke. It kicked less than my 10/22. So if you want to go for a girly gun -> AR-15.

Some other nice guns to shoot are FAL & G3. you know you have fired something after you pull the trigger.

Yeah, you know what they say - better late than never. Nah, I bought my first gun(.22lr) when I was 15. I still have it & still the same permit also. It also states one's profession there too - Occupation: Pupil.

Can't really get one of your own before that here since there is law against it(thnx to EU it's gonna be 18 soon). Pacifists - bah. Anyways before that I had shot mostly with air rifle/pistol. Since it was my neightbour who taught me to shoot I got to shoot also with his rifles. My first shot with cal. 12 shotgun was before I learned to read(ok I was 6 when learned how to read(no chance of misinterpretation there(If only someone could learn me how to write))...

Come to think of it I have never shot so little in my life than when I was in the army.. :?

What if I say both? 8)

Naah... it's big bullets but they don't go so fast. Maximum I can get from my rifle is about 8000J but I have shot a 10000+ J round too. Usually the weight of the gun compensates a lot. 5,5kg gun doesn't recoil so fast. Sure it pushes you but it's not that violent.

Would you call this a big round? Hint:It's not a .308 Win

We have a letter combination for that kind of shooting: UIT. I do that also a lot, since it's the only true way to learn how to shoot accurate. To me it isn't only about accuracy & standard ranges. Unknown distances & speed make it a lot more interesting & challenging. At least I think so. For example I have never seen the idea of benchrest. One doesn't have to hit the center, they almost bolt their guns to those tables & the winner isn't the best shooter, but the one who makes one's errors more the same everytime.

True, but no money to buy a 5000? rifle in .338 Lapua Magnum with S&B PMII 5-25x56 with P4Fine

Yeah that .260 has only 1200J @500m, won't pierce bodyarmor. Oh wait I have the accuracy to shoot headshots... muahahahaaa

Well it's not about the shooting in hunting. Think of it more like going hiking with heavy stick :D You or me can't get any game anyway   Have to say spending 50 weeks in concrete-hell it's nice to go relax for few week in to Lapland :)

Ps. I do have a real rifle that uses proper bullets too. Not puny 1xx grains but 4xx-5xx grains ;)

I should add about the hunting thing, no I don't go hunting anymore but my family does. Between my Dad and brothers they could talk all day long with u back-woods weirdos... Monty and I have more refined taste then that.

Heggis... ur right, but I sure love to tease u <3

And Kossi... ur talking for Heggis? When did u two start dating?? Did I miss something :?: :!:

Seti, Sweetie... I love those odd northerners. I have a little respect for them since the state I live in is usually as cold or colder then theirs in wintertime. But if we don't harass them, then they will think that there is something wrong and we don't love them anymore.

Snoop... I have shot my brother's AKs and they are fun. It's easy enough for a girl to handle and it's almost impossible to ruin. ( i should know  ) But I tell u something scarier then that... one of my brothers made one and it works to boot! Now that is frightening.

Well my target rifle aint .308Win. Bought the gun used with a "broken" barrel (dent inside barrel) and bought a new-ish Hart barrel in .260 Remington :) But ammo what I have gotten the best result in long range so far is 123gr Lapua Scenar Silver Jacket. With that my best group was little under 5cm @500 meters. I can live with that :)

Now I got a batch of 140gr Berger VLD coming and I hope I can get it going as well as that scenar. Or better. Those bullets I hopefully use in next summers sniping competition...

I just need better optics for it...

Oh yeah and that .260 is a superb caliber... can't find even ready brass from the shops for it

ps. She's just acting... she can't resist me or my pictures

Heggis shoots with .260 rem now days. Only thing he likes with those .308 win shells is that those can be made as .260 rem.

I shoot with .300 win mag(7.62x66,3) witch uses also .308 bullets. Lightest I like to use is 185 grain scenar. One can get it up to 950 m/s with decent pressures. Lately I've been using 220 Sierra HPBT with good results. Next one will be Berger VLD 190 grain. I also tried some Sako Hammerheads & they will be nice if I ever were to shoot a moose. I just might go for VLD 168 I think it was for a change. They come handy as varmint hunting with V0 ~ 1050m/s.

Since 900 m/s seems to be a limit that makes the barrel wear fast down I've been looking for heavier bullets...
