>>>>>>What do you know..And who says we dont celebrate Christian Religion during X-Mas, we have an all american, International Corporative Man from the northpole acting in place of the now dead Turkish Saint..Nicolaus... <<<<

and then to think of the fact that we in holland indeed calebrate Sinterklaas (Siant nicolaus) as well
but on the Fifth of december, this ole whitebearded fella
comes to holland every year by boat from spain (i guess a trip from turkey is a too long). this man gives all the kids who have been nice gifts but if u haven't been nice
since his last visit, u will be taken to spain by his helpers Zwarte pieten<Black Peters>
(kinda negrolooking like people)
So that was a lil bit Dutch folklore <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">
Merry X-Mas to you all...
Now knowing that some of you might just be a little bit 'red' in political standards or one of those awful Vegetarians that wont eat hamburgers..(J/K)..Or even worse buy things from a multi national company...Such as the infamous 08 in my hometown..(I wont even tell you more about this fella)..
Sweden...19th century..the merry man in red were non existant..Instead there was a small gnome in each house that took care of the house for each family..During X-Mas (A christian thing) the nice people of sweden offered a bowl of (gr?t?) goo (For non swedish talking, a meal made up of boiled grain..and its not called Goo in english..) For his nice services, and he offered some nice gifts..
Now..20th century..slightly after WWII a major corporation from the United States made entry...Coca Cola Company..they introduced the new and highly addictive drink Coca Cola to the swedish people..But hey..That small little gnome in blue shirt, green pants and midget size didnt make anyone happy..Instead they introduced their view of Santa Claus..A big merry Hoo hoo hoo'ing man in red, with a big white beard from the northpole with his drunk raindeer Rudolph..

Yes..the basics are true..Santa Claus as we know him origins from Coca Cola Company..Sweden had our little House Gnome or in Swedish 'Tomte' before that...Santa Claus is actually in basic a Turkish Saint, Saint Nicolaus..Who is the saint of Sailors, but he apparently gave some money to his neighbour so the man next door didnt have to put his little girl on the street as a whore..There of he also became in the end the Saint of gifts..What do you know..And who says we dont celebrate Christian Religion during X-Mas, we have an all american, International Corporative Man from the northpole acting in place of the now dead Turkish Saint..Nicolaus...<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

I hope I didnt bore you all with this minor Christmas Tale of our dear Santa Claus...
Merry X-Mas...
