Re: arrrgghhhh!
damn its like watching stock markets - the price of SSD goes up and down. I have also noticed something really weird: the price for my i5 750 has remained the same for about 9 months! what the hell is going on! dogs and cats living together! mass hysteria! help!

Re: arrrgghhhh!
then Intel lags behind not even their "extrem" (which as far as i could find are the fastest) disk are fast any more compare to the competitors
intel talk around 250/170, some of their competitors are talking 285/275 and in this case Intels Extrem are more expensive
anyway good thing is that there are so many to chose from... then we all can find what we find best (price, performance, brand, etc)

@Snoop:
when i discuss Intel, do we talk:
quality
or performance
or price/performance/quality
like: i like apples, but always eat pear

Re: arrrgghhhh!
For me the SSD was also a test, would I like it, how to use it, for next computer (whenever that might be bought).
It costed 80 $, shipment included. So a nice cheap price for a test.
And as I said: the results are satisfying to me.

Re: arrrgghhhh!
sure its faster (than HHD) !! but 230/135 aint fast among SSD's ! you need to get up close to 300/300 to say a SSD are fast
just one example: Mushkin SSD Callisto 240GB 2.5" 285r/275w
but sure the price tag is a whole other thing (tho i think their 60gigs are around 200eur)

Re: arrrgghhhh!
R/W speed is 230/135 Mb/s.
I use the SSD primary for Windows. All (or most) other programs are installed on hard disks.
And as far as I notice (no measurements taken) the PC is stable and definitely faster at start-up.

Re: arrrgghhhh!
u say fast: whats the R/W speed of it... or is it just fast due to u find it fast booting and stuff ?KOF wrote:I got the 30Gb OCZ SSD without the great speed you all seems to love.
It was cheap, it's fast, it works like it should and I'm happy with it !
Aka: For me no need to invest big in another SSD.
@Monty: well which Intel disk are you talking about coz most of them have "not so good" write speed
a brand to mention when it comes to R/W speed could be Mushkin which most disks are close to 300/300mbps...... but the price phyyy the 200eur that Vellu complains about are just the shipping cost
